Practical Apache Pulsar Application Development Introduction to Schema Hands-on Exercise: Using Order Schema

Complete the following for your Hands-on Exercise:

  • Follow the tutorials for removing the registered String schema on topics orderBackLogChina and orderBackLogUS.
  • Also remove the registered String schema on topics order_approved and order_declined
  • Update the DynamicProducerFactory to use Order schema.
  • Update InventoryCheckerChina AND InventoryCheckerUS to use the new Order schema.  Make sure they are able to consume and produce messages.  Note: to abandon the existing String messages on the topic and move the cursor forward for a subscription, we will change the subscription name and change the subscriptionInitialPosition to Latest.  This is one way to easily move the cursor forward.
  • You should also update ConfirmationEmail to read from order_approved with Order schema.

You should now meet requirements 1 and 2 of your graded Hands-on Exercises:

  • Publish an Order message to topic orderBackLogChina.
  • Consume an Order message from topic orderBackLogChina and produce an Order message to topic order_approved.
